Nicola Chapman

Bleistift, Pinsel, und Farben begleiten mich schon das ganze Leben. Wenn mich etwas berührt, mache ich skizzen oder male es. Das Spiel mit Farbe und Form ist für mich Freude, Anstrengung und letztlich meist Erlösung. Das Malen von Bildern ist ein Prozess in mehreren Stufen: Betrachten, eintauchen, Abstand nehmen und abschliessen. Wenn daraus Tiefe entsteht und ein Bild auch Freude ausstrahlt, macht mich das selber glücklich. Schön, wenn auch andere Betrachter das so empfinden.

Ich bin in London geboren. Unsere Familie zog wenige Jahre später in die Schweiz nach Zürich. Hier lebe ich seither und bin verheiratet mit Journalist Matthias Chapman. Zusammen haben wir vier Kinder grossgezogen. Wenn immer mir Zeit bleibt, male ich in meinem Atelier. Diese Website zeigt einen Teil meines Gesamtwerks.

Nicola Chapman

Pencils, brushes and colours accompany Nicola Chapman her whole life. Whatever moved her, she drawed and painted – famous actors she was fond of, but above all animals. With intensity, courage in use of vibrant colours and attention to detail, she creates paintings with strenght, joy of life and humor. Self-taught she has developed her own unique style and mix of techniques. Born 1964 in London to a Swiss mother and an English father, she moved early in her childhood to Zurich in Switzerland with her family where she lives ever since. Today, mother of four children and married with journalist Matthias Chapman, she works in her recreational time from home at her pictures. This website presents paintings up from 2012.
